History of Spa Velichovky
Before the cornerstone was laid for Spa Velichovky there was estate in the village with small castle owned two baroness sisters of lineage Höpflingen – Bergendorfu. Baroness Berta baroness Bess-Chrosting and her sister Gabriela baroness Spens-Boden known that in closeness to Velichovky is also situated moor. This moor was already used by Dr.Kutik for treatment in his convalescent home in Hořičky. Dr.Kutík together with his friend earl Harrach recommended to baroness to build spa in Velichovky and set up join stock company. In 1897 began the construction of spa facilities and the following year 1898 was the first spa season.
After First World War in 1918 bought spa Czech headquarters sickness insurance in Prague and continued cycle of seasons. Year after year the estate of the spa and general awareness improved; in twenties was build main, modern-designed building that up to present day surprising by her enterprising architectonic appearance; parks, swimming bath and further villas were established. In 1926 staying of the first republic president T.G.Masaryk was great historic event for the spa, after him was named the main spa building (Masaryk´s House).
During Second World War the spa terminated serve it´s purpose. And how the front approaching the spa is gradually changed to a military hospital. F. Schörner, the master of military groups Centre placed headquarters lodge in the spa. Villas and the main spa building were suddenly turned into hostels of German army, officers and generals. However on 8th May 1945 procession of American army arrived to Velichovky led by lieutenant colonel Robert H. Pratt who surrenders German capitulation to the local Nazi government leadership led by marshal Schörner. Every year on 8th May in Velichovky is held memorial ride historic military vehicles under the name Mission Velichovky.
After the war the spa was returned it´s commission like treatment facility of sickness insurance company, later national spa. In 1992 was re-established join stock company Lazne Velichovky.
Present
Lazne Velichovky a.s., non-governmental medical facility with more that century-old tradition, specializes in the rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the locomotive system of patients after accidents, before and after surgery of bones and joints, including the joint refund. Treatment is carried out within close cooperation with leading orthopedic experts from Hospital Clinique in Hradec Kralove, Hospital na Homolce, Bulovka Hospital and the others.
The unique spa reputation contributes very thick moor that´s composition is unique in the Czech Republic. This is a chalk mud soil power sourced of water containing calcium carbonate and iron. Bearing is located near the spa area and it has supply of this unique mud soil for 150 – 200 years.
In years 2005-2006 after the right part of Masaryk house reconstruction the quality of accommodation standard was highly improved. All the rooms in this section are highly standard equipped to meet the demanding requirements of our clients.
In 2006 was also completed the reconstruction of a new balneo center providing hydrotherapy, mud bath, rehabilitative exercises and bubble and ingredients bath.
In year 2007 our company opened new Institute Medical Wellness. This part provides the highest quality of services including entire comfort that client expecting.
